Juvenile Warning
Lets say hypothetically a 14 year old was arrested for shoplifting a bottle of pop and was given what was described as a warning down at the police station and was told by the policeman that it would come off her record when she was an adult, and she has kept her nose absolutely clean in the 20 years that have elapsed.
Does she or does she not have a criminal record? Would this warning show up in a standard or enhanced CRB? In any other search that a prospective employer might conduct? Would she be excluded from becoming a policewoman herself, or a lawyer even?

The police now repremand and finally warn children.
It appears you are looking back 20 years when the police would caution children.
All police forces had different policies or procedures for cautioning.
If the person had a clean record as an adult and a minor theft as a children 20 odd years ago.
Well an enhanced disclosure CRB check shows all police and criminal convictions. A caution is not a criminal conviction and as long as the person is totally honest on the application the police or any other secure employer will weight the disclosure accordingly.
The person quoted has a police record not a criminal record.
The same applies to becoming a solicitor I know of a number of the legal people who have erred in the past.
Time is a great healer and people only learn by making mistakes.
Hope this helps I'm sure the legal eagles on AB will flood in with some more answers

RATTER
Did you apply for a police/ court or other secure job?
The enhanced CRB will show both Police ( Cautions ) and criminal record.
Std checks only show criminal convictions.
Also the further back the convictions or cautions each police force had differing processes and procedures for recording what is now a caution on the PNC record via results from court if convicted or direct to PNC if cautioned ( Repremand / Final Warning ) for Juvee's.
The CPS systems are now linked to PNC and the CPS and police work more closely in the Criminal Justice System.
Which should mean that std results for offences are acheived but this is generally not the case.
HOPE THIS HELPS
The Legal eagles on AB are far better than me at conviction / caution arguments and this area has been the subject of many Q & A over the past months
