3 week old baby girl - will start off by "shouting" rather than crying - if this continues wether we console her or not it will develop into a full blown crying session ( hissy fit ! ) of which there is no calming her down - any more advice please would be welcome.
it seems 2 b just girls, im afraid. only advice, a dummy maybe? and if it gets too much walk out the room, with her safe obviously (iam sure u would). sorry not much help, i know. my daughter was like that, shes nearly four, and when she decides on something, thats it. and think weve got the joys of teenagers yet.lol
I would say that this has nothing to do with being a girl....just being a baby!!!! Have to agree with mycats, babies of this age do not manipulate you by having a 'hissy fit'. Although it seems young....could this be colic? Make sure you feed her in an upright position and wind her well. As for there seeming to be no way of calming her.....welcome to being a parent....only another 18 odd years to go ;o]
Maybe she just wants contact, she is still very young and you have to remember she has been part of your body for the last 9 months she maybe missing that and will need soothing. I loved holding my babies and would spend hours just holding and watching them, they were't spoilt and have grown up to be loving well adjusted and very affectionate girls. Make the most of it she will grow up so quickly. I wish I could have that time over again.
I know she's very young but have you checked if she's teething? Although its unusual a baby may start to teeth from a few days old (some are born with teeth, scary). Colic is a one-size-fits-all description for prolonged crying (2 or more hours) for no known reason. If she is dry, fed, winded and the right temperature then there's not much else you can do. One last thing; is she over stimulated? Maybe a mobile over her cot or loud noises is becoming a bit too much. I hope you manage to solve the problem, good luck.
Have you spoken to the health visitor about this? Surely that should be the first move with so young a baby?
My nephew's baby is 12 days old and was diagnosed with possble colic. She was given Infacol Suspension - recommended by the health visitor- & it worked well but check with the health visitor first.
