I accidently knocked my chair with my laptop still on it, and the laptop fell on the floor hard. And now whenever i turn it on there is a white streak down the screen. How do i get rid of it. Can't open to see if something has come loose cuz my dad will kill me. PLease help!!!

Sounds like you may have broken it!!
Look closely at the screen .... is it actually cracked?
99% certain it will be ....

The next question is how much.
The answer is - probably expensive
2 options
Send it away - could cost more than you paid for the lappy in the first place.

Fix it yourself - generally not too difficult - opening the case tends to be hardest ... feel for the clips ... don't force it!

Search the net ... e-bay is a good starting point and you might get a cheap replacement. screen
Depending how old the lappy is ... you might even find a second hand machine cheaper than a new screen.

the third option is use the lappy with a pc monitor
depending how strapped you are ... crt monitors are dirt cheap ....difficult on the train though

Ask your Dad if your home insurance will cover it. It may not be as bad as you think.

As HWKE has already mentioned, try your home insurance. My son broke my laptop a couple of years ago and I got a brand spanking new one, of a much higher spec, by claiming on my home insurance.
