Shut=down problems

Hi, wonder if anyone can help. When I click " shut- down " on my computer, all the programmes close but the computer stays on. I then have to click a second time for the computer to close ! Any ideas ? Many thanks. Jill

Try clicking Log Off first Jill, it should then ask if you want to shut down.
It sounds like you are on a second user admin account although I may be wrong.

I notice when I click start, at the top where it has my user name there is no picture next to the name. My brother-in-law tells me that if I had a picture next to the user name, to click on that would give me a lot of options about my account, which might help me with my logging off problems. Problems sorted ! It was the 3.1 version of Skype. I have gone back to the 2.5 version and all works well. I can now shut down first time. Many thanks Jill
