i just want to have a moan really.I hate disabled scooters. You know them things that people use even though they are not disabled. They hog the shop isles with them.THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE SHOP.They kill about 8 people a year on them things. They think they have a right to hog the pavement with them. They run everyone in their way over and expect YOU to move for them. They go around 30-40 mph.Why aren't they in the road. After all, cyclists have to ride in the road its a joke!

The information in the article confirmed the eight deaths (in 2004) but the ones killed were the riders on the scooters after they had been hit by cars or lorries on the open road.
The legal speed limit on pavements and in pedestian areas is 4 mph and while I agree there are safety issues caused by a tiny minority, they are hardly the problem you claim them to be.

Yes these things are a nuisance. There are more and more of them appearing round the town where I live. They seem to be coming the latest fashion like mobile phones did with kids a while back; now they all have them. A lot of the motorised scooters are driven discourtesy to pedestrians. I think it may be case of If I drive into you it will hurt you more then me. So you tend to move out of their way. Having said that, a percentage of the scooter riders are partially sighted. So they shouldnt be on the pavement .? The road then? Do they pay tax and insurance? If no then they certainly should not be on the road. Mind you, some of them having beepers on when they reverse which always makes me laugh.
