I've just charged my ipod using a mains adaptor, my screen say;s it's charged, but that's it. I cannot do anything else with it however many times I try and get into menu or anything else. Even when connected to computer it's not working

Have you tried rebooting it? With the video ipods, you have to press up and the middle button together for about 5 seconds.
