r4 dvds

I recently bought some DVDs from a well known online retailer advertised as being R2 & R4 compatible.
The articles are only marked R4 Australia but play OK in my R2 Sony (not multi-region) DVD player
How can this be?

Hi, I don't know why this happens at times, but I work in a music/DVD shop, so have all DVD titles to choose from. I have found that some DVD's classed as region 4 play without problem on my DVD player (not multi) & PC but others refuse to play. In the case of my computer some will play if I change the configuration to region 4, which I have not done (obviously), on my DVD player they will not register? If you buy any more regions 4�s tread carefully; as I've found it's VERY hit & miss.
