Hi Denise, This site says that twisted willow - Salix matsudana `Tortuosa' grows to 25' wide. I would plant it at least 15' from a structure or wall. http://www.mnpower.com/treebook/fact99.html This site has the most information of any site I know about root problems, leaf litter, etc., but is currently off the air due to hurricane Frances. They can grow up to 35 to 40 feet in Britain (It's the mild winters and cool damp summers Newt) I can't find anything specific about the twisted willow but I'd play safe and plant 20 to 25 feet away
