Road pricing rears it's ugly head again.

I can now see where all this government spin on the environment and so called "global warming" is leading to. The government is going to use this as an excuse to justify road pricing! Does this mean that there will be no tax on petrol?
I can see poll tax type riots over this in the future!
What are everyone's opinions on road pricing, the great money spinning myth of global warming and the fact that once again our government has ignored 2 million of its citizens.

For me it's not just the cost but the way green issues are being used as a lame excuse to tax everything in sight. You can't complain about it, because we're saving the planet right?
I also suspect that they're quoting ridiculous prices so that it'll look like they're doing us a favour when they introduce the scheme at reduced rates.
Everyone will be so relieved that it's only going to cost them 50p a mile instead of �1.34 we'll all forget to be outraged by it. A classic con move.
Of course it'll then go up to the original �1.34 within a couple of years anyway.

You're probably right, Ludwig, but in the instances I've quoted, even 50p a mile would be too much to pay. Crazy. Other countries seem to manage very well with reasonably priced toll roads so you have to suspect this governments motives - and green they ain't!
