My guess would be the distance. It takes a good twelve hours to get to the east coast of South America, and Peru is on the west.

ok but there are flights from Amsterdam and thats only about 50 minutes from the UK!
Insufficient demand to fill a large enough aircraft for the route.
Question Author
No I dont believe that there is insufficient demand to fill an aircraft. Not at all. I believe that there is a market for it but where is the airline to introduce it?
When they come to share your belief - and get the necessary licences/landing rights.
Question Author
LOL ok. I just cannot believe that there are no direct flights to Lima and other south american cities in this day and age! They could at least put several flights out a week if not one daily!

Thats KLM by the way ;)
Theres not that many possibilities to get to Lima. It's either via Madrid with Iberia/ Air Comet, KLM via Amsterdam, AA via Miami or Delta Airlines via Atlanta.

To The Prophet:

You mean that I should contact KLM and ask for a free flight from London-Amsterdam? LOL :)

Question Author
Yeah sure KLM flies from London-Amsterdam, but the point is that I shouldnt have to fly anywhere else to connect! I want a direct flight to Lima and such a thing is certainly capable of happening one day :) Its too expensive to fly out there, a return ticket costs from 650-you could go to Australia and back for less!!!!
Indirect flights are often cheaper than direct ones as an incentive to use them - so they probably ARE flying you to Amsterdam for free or nearly so.

But it's likely that direct flights will come - Latin America is growing as a holiday destination.
I flew to Quito, Ecuador, via Miami and it was pretty straightforward without long delays. It was good to stretch my legs after the 9 hours to Miami before going on to Quito - and you don't have to handle your luggage between flights, only identify it before the next leg..
Start your own airline, if it is so obvious that there should be such direct routes from England.

Alternatively, just connect via Miami like most people.
