I think it was Salman Rushdie. I know Murray Walker did "A Mars a day helps you work rest and play"

'Naughty and nice', is from Haven Gillespie's 1934 'Santa Claus is Comin' To Town'. It was adapted by Salman Rushdie as 'naughty but nice'.

Beryl Reid used the phrase in an advertising campaign (TV & posters) for cream cakes
