McCarthyism or Reds under the Beds

Is there a return to McCarthyism...ie Reds under the beds! You would think so judging by the USA's attempts and aided by friends of Tony Blair. To criticize any of the USA and UKs foreign adventures is either to be called a red or a moron. Some people who want peace in the world have a right to free speech and a need to point out from a personal view without involving politics or personalities. Do you think there should be an end to free speech?

I don't think so, because there's no equivalent blacklisting and career destroying of people who criticize Bush/Blair.
The nearest modern day equivalent to witchcraft/communism is probably racism.

I don't think there's a return to McCarthyism per se, but there seems to be the same kind of mentality (albeit to a far lesser extent) applied towards immigrants or foreigners.

I sometimes think people have this vision of a ragheaded Indian or a beared Pole lurking in the bushes eagerly awaiting to pounce on an unsuspecting Briton, and wickedly nick his job, and pinch his financial details before vanishing into the night...

On the news tonight it was reported that Russia has developed missiles that can blow Europe to bits, quoting Putin. All because the USA has provoked Russia by intending to install star wars missiles in Poland. They knew the reaction this would cause but rather than pretending to keep Europe safe have increased tensions similar to cold war politics. Saviour of the west.....my bl..dy eye!
