Has Blair redeemed himself?

On his fairwell tour he has just visited Libya. In doing so he has secured contracts not only for our defence industry but also for BP. As it was Blair who introduced BP to Russia by investing �5 billion we are now seeing that investment crumbling to dust due to the ongoing bad relations with the UK and others. Yet another case of the UK coming out the loser for supporting USA foreign policies?

He's done something to himself, not sure if I'd call it redeemed! Now is the time to remove his passport before he gets back in :0)

So now we're selling missiles and air defense systems to Libya?

Have we learned nothing about selling arms in the Middle East? or do we just not care if there's oil involved?

He is a political loose cannon, and should therefore, somehow be restrained, before he can inflict further damage on this country.

Isn't it refreshing to see that pariah nations can be welcomed back into the fold. Acts of terrorism, breaches of human rights and the odd slaying of British Police personel can be atoned for. And now we are frinds again, we are able to do some nice trading together.
Who knows, in a few years we might see Gordon Brown dropping in at Bin Ladens cave for a cuppa and a nice chat.

Hardly seems yesterday when "swords into ploughshares" were smashing up hawk jets bound for Indonesia to be used against the East Timorese.

Now East Timor's independant and we're all the best of buddies.

The Thatchers and Major inherited juicy directorships of arms companies on leaving the office of Prime Minister. Maybe Blair has seen his pension diminished by Brown's policies of the last 10 years and is looking for some easy blood money in the near future.

I don't know about that but I do recall some talk about an "ethical foreign policy".

And I do recall that same minister stepping down rather that send us into Iraq.

And I recall with some regret how we all rather made fun of him with all the gnome jokes.

Tony Blair in dishonest, deceitfull, opportunism outrage. And i thought he was a living saint. Truly, has there ever been a worse PM when it comes to getting the best deal for Britain in his foreign dealings?

He's done something beneficial financially for the arms industry, but I don't think that quite cuts it when it comes to redemption.

It made me sick to see him being idolised by the people of Sierra Leone, in gratitude for stopping the years of civil war. How did he do this? By sending in British troops, who once again had to put their lives at risk (not Tony Blair's) in yet another foreign conflic.

One kid had even been named Tony Blair, poor little sod.

You can fool some of the people some of the time. Blair has the distinction of fooling many none of the time. If he was employed in a proper job he would have been sacked long ago. His CV will need to bend his accomplishments to pay for his future outgoings.

When the troops were sent to Sierra Leone, they were only supposed to be there 'for one month'. How come they are still there seven years later Mr Blair? He will never redeem himself as far as I'm concerned.
