Egypt - Travellers Cheques?
Anyone travelled to Egypt recently? Getting conflicting reports as to what I should do money wise. I was going to take travellers cheques either in sterling or Egyptian pounds (wasn't sure) but now hearing that there is often a problem trying to change them and that the best thing although not safest is to just take cash and often the Eqyptians (in some resorts certianly) prefer Euro's!!??
Not taking credit cards and would prefer not to use my debit card too.
Any Ideas?

It's not my main account and I'm just going to use it to put money in to draw out on holiday. I did it for the free banking, but of course if the card goes astray, there is only a limited amount of money in the account, and no link to any other account. Might this work for you? I used a debit card in an ATM in Egypt, some of the larger hotels have ATMs in them.
i went in march. we took a mixture of us dollars, english pounds and egyptian pounds, abour 500 in total. we didn't take travellers cheques and i used a credit card once which husband scolded me for but back home i found that i had been charged less on the card than the item was bought for! the egyptians seem to prefer us dollars and english pounds. hope you have a good time.
