Madeleine McCann - Controversial questions i need answered!
24 Answers
I know someone else asked a similar question a while back but i'm still wondering the same thing.... after seeing an advert on TV appealing for people to help i keep asking myself why is his case so special or unique?!
I dont mean to offend anyone and i understand that it's such a tragic thing that this lovely girl has gone missing but kids go missing every day amd have been gone for years (!!) so i just can't get my head around why so much is being done for the Mccann family...? Inc. MIllions of pounds worth of support from celebrities, celebrity appeals and TV appeals.
Not only that but it if her parents hadn't left those young kids in the room on their own she probably wouldn't have been taken in the first place?! And we surely can't deny that fact?!
I wonder how other parents who have had their children missing for x amount of years feel about the special treatment of the Mccann family...?
Also...i have some controversial questions....:
Would her parents have been treated this fairly if they were (for example) cleaners rather than Doctors?
Would they have recieved all this support if they were (for example) asian or black British, poor or young?
Would the appeal to find Maddy be so strong if she wasn't so beautiful and cute?
So basically if this were a young, not so well-off family that had left their daughter alone whilst they went to a restaurant or a club would they not be portrayed in the media as unfit parents and would they even be given this much attention and support?!
It's just my curiosity and i'd like to hear your opinions.
I pray Maddy is found safe and well in the near future -

I think exposure has more to do with the fact that they were on holiday and complacent enough to 'let' this happen, and originally it was seen as a warning to anyone who goes to these places to consider the safety of their children. Fortunately many of us do, but of course there are those who don't.
Anyway, another thing I have pondered in my intermittent exposure to the headlines is, and I am a father who wouldnt dream of leaving my child out of my sight, if they have already lost one child wouldnt you be so befuddled and distressed that you would never even consider letting the remaining children out of sight to go off to several different countries. They seem very content to leave them with people/family etc whilst jetting all round the world, but my gut instinct would be that they stayed at my side every single moment I just find it a bit odd that they are prepared to constantly leave them behind.
Sorry for rambling.

It does seem a little odd that these two devoted parents have, so soon after losing one child, gone off and left their remaining two behind. If you lost one child only a matter of a few weeks ago surely the natural instinct would be to keep the remaining two as close to you as possible. But there they were, touring Italy and Spain while the kids were left behind with someone else. Very strange behaviour.
And the next leg of the European tour is about to kick off to Netherlands, Morocco and Germany. Are there t shirts and videos available?

In our group of friends I am surprised at how many people who have stayed at complex based holidays and have left the kids. Last week I was made to feel like a control freak, for not having ever done the same.
I believe that there are several issues at hand here :
you limit your exposure to risks where you can.
I believe that horrible opportunist gits are out there ... I have removed a bit of the gloss of childhood when explaining to the kids about stranger danger over the years.
Why the Mc Canns are able to generate so much interest, one can only imagine that with better educated friends , associates and acquantinces that are involved in the generation of media interest here - they are more verbose and media savvy. A good friend of mine is involved in PR and she would step up to the plate for us if God forbid it was necessary. Some element of pure luck as to who you know must come into play surely.
Whilst it must be to the good for all those who have lost children to hope that the highlighting of this crime - and seeking/ investigation of those suspected of involvement in trafficking and snatching of children ( will not go into other stuff we all know it's out there! ) you would be glad that the topic is now being addressed on a different level. However you would be bitterly disappointed if anyone recieved less attention in similar circumstances now.
Wasn't it only a couple of years ago that Belgium ( of all places) had a lot of child abduction issues and the like,?. Aren't the crims. taking advantage of the protective laws in these countries.
Of course we all wish that there would be the ultimate resolution to this situation, Maddy returned and the family reunited, but your heart goes out to all the parents who are with out their wee treasures and for whom this has trawled up all the feelings that they had begun to manage, God love them all !!
