hp printer + vista + open office

My HP Deskjet 5552 worked absolutely fine with Word and ME. Since upgrading to Open Office and Vista I really have a problem. Whenever I try to print in landscape a thick black line (looks like hyeroglyphics) appears along the top of the print out. HP confirm a full feature driver for this printer has not been developed, and I have reinstalled allowing Vista to find the basic driver, but this hasn't solved the problem. I desperately need to resolve this problem - any ideas anyone?

Without the driver, it's not going to function properly. If HP have no intention of developing the driver, you will have to wait until a third party does, if anybody ever does, that is.
Time to consider buying a new printer if you need to print in landscape.

Vista includes a driver for this model (with reduced functionality).
If you upgraded from XP, it may not have installed the correct driver (as the XP driver would already be in place), so you might find that uninstalling the driver and restarting the machine solves the problem (as hopefully, Vista will re-detect the printer and install its native drivers).
