Hi,i`m struggling with my family tree on my Dads side.My Grandad was Frederick Gibbs and he married Rose Field,but she was his second wife.I need to find out who his first wife was and any children they had.Fred married Rose in Kings Norton,Birmingham in 1913.Any help would be appreciated.

How old was Fred when he married his second wife? What was his fathers name and occupation?

Hi,i`m at work at the mo so haven`t got things to hand.Fred was a lot older than Rose.I think he was 42 when they married,she was twenty-something.His fathers name was George Henry Gibbs,can`t remember his occupation but it was maybe gardening type job.Will have to check the marraige cert when i get home.

Frederick and Rose married March 1913. (Rose A Field). They got married in Kings Norton

Now, a Frederick Gibbs married a Alice Maud Elliott in 1894 in Kings Norton. He would have been early twenties.

Ok... on the 1901 census these are the results for Frederick and Alice Gibbs

Name: Alice M Gibbs
Age: 28
Estimated birth year: abt 1873
Relation: Wife

Spouse's name: Frederick J
Where born: Lambeth, London, England
1871


So this couple may not be the same one as Frederick J was down as Abt 1871 although they do get this wrong.

This also has Frederick down as being born in Lambeth, London. Do you know where he was born?

In Dec 1895 he married in Droitwich, Worcs:
spouse: Martha Broome
(Martha was born 1874 in West Bromwich, Staffs)

On the 1901 census they are married and living in Derbyshire. There are 2 children with them:-

Frederick G G Gibbs aged 4
Charles F Gibbs aged 3

If i look on the 1881 census it looks like Fredericks father was Charles, which is not George Henry like you say. I cannot find a george henry gibbs with a child called frederick on the 1881 census.

hi,Freds dad is definately George Henry,its on the marraige cert.I don`t know wher he was born,but,ive got an old aunty,the only child of Fred still living.Shes losing her marbles a bit so info is sketchy.She doesn`t know where Fred was born,but she says "not round here,a long way off".So,its possible he could have been born in London.Actually,there is another aunty i`d forgotten about but apparently shes even battier than the other one.She lives in London.
