my car is taxed but my insurance has run out, can, I still park the car on the road although it is not insured

NO,the car must have valid insurance in place to even be parked on the highway.but you can park it on your driveway.
The above answer is wrong. You do not need to have the vehicle insured to park on the highway, just taxed. However, if you are caught driving it, moving it or even sitting in it with the keys, you could then be in trouble for having no insurance. They will seize it, so tread careful. If you are using the car, get it insured if not, declare SORN & take it off the highway & park on a private drive - you may even get a rebate depending how much is left on the car tax
