May I just add that being a child of the 70's the most hi-tech gadget I had was a digital watch that when you pressed a button it illuminated!!!!
Also, my friends and I used to chase swans (all in good spirits) Nobody ever had their arms broken by the wings. Infact, I do not believe ANYBODY in the whole hisytory of having lovely swans in their local ponds has ever had a limb broken by them.
Finally, we did not have a microwave oven, the local sweetshop man sold single cigarettes in a jar and we had "The Pop Man" who came around in a flat bed truck and sold Corona fizzy pop with a returnable bottle. They were full of "E" numbers and the limeade glowed in the dark, but what happy memories!!!!
PS Even in London we had a "village" type bobby who we were all literally terrified of. Totally respected him and said hello, but never, and I mean never, not even from afar, would we give him any lip!!!
