my freind is looking to go to Florida in 2006 for a holiday, unfortunately he has a criminal conviction and served three prison sentences. One for theft and two for violence. Can he go or does he need a visa? is there any guarantee he will be allowed entry on arriving there

I'd contact the American Embassy as I'm sure that the USA is pretty strict.
I had to look into it for a friend that was coming to florida with me. You must have a visa if you have any sort of conviction to enter the states, even if you have been arrested and not charged and even if you have been done for driving offences!! I dont think there is any guarantee for entry to the states unfortunately. They are very strict and stand for no messing upin entry to their country. I have been there a few times and if you need any more help just post a question!

Someone I know has a crimanal record for fraud a few years back and has no problem entering USA most recently back in January. He also has an unpaid speeding fine in Arizona.

There is no guarantee darrend.A girl in our work went to the USA  with her boyfriend in March this year & he was not allowed in the country due to having a criminal Conviction even though he had a Visa.
