Ideas for More Income??
2 Answers
I am a single parent working full time and my salary is not great. My profession (a PA) does not make it easy to get a better paid job - salaries are all pretty much in the same bracket. I have a mortgage and pay all the bills etc. but I am now struggling. Things have gone up but my salary hasn't and the company cannot help, I have already asked. I get 20 a week from the Inland Revenue and 50 per week from absent father, I get single person discount on Council Tax. I don't know what else to do and it is really worrying me. I can't get a second job because I have to look after my little boy in the evenings/weekends. Has anyone any suggestions? Is there anything else I can claim for?

You can receive around 4000 in annual rent without having to declare it for tax. Nobody likes having strangers come to live with them but if you can find somebody suitable, even if it is for a short period until the Bank Rate decreases and your mortgage costs reduce, it might help. Another option is to contact your mortgage provider and see if they would extend the term of your mortgage to reduce your monthly outgoings. Obviously this will increase the amount of money your mortgage costs in the long term, but keeping the roof over your head at the moment is more important.
