There is an abolutely brilliant book called Treat Your Own Back by Robin McKenzie which was recommended to me by a hospital based physiotherapist. It explains all the different types of injury and how best to treat them but the basis are the exercises are focused at improving the structure and metabolism of the soft tissue and discs. The exercises are easy to follow and takes you through step by step with pictures.I went down the road of painkillers and ended up very ill and am glad now I have found another way.
