i ow n my own home.i ow a credit card 1.800 pounds from 3 years ago.i made an offer but thay say this is not enough.they say they are going to make me bancrupt if i dont settle in full.can they do this thanks

as far as i know if you fill out a financial statement and offer them a monthly payment amount even if its just a fiver, then they must accept it and cannot refuse because you are offering to pay something back.
I would check with citizens advice but this is what I had to do in the past.

Yes they can. Inability to pay ones debts is the usual reason for bankruptcy.

Make an appointment with the CAB debt advisers as soon as possible.

Or talk to your bank. As you own your own home you may be able to raise a secured loan to pay the debt off at a rate you can afford.

The Citizens Advice Bureau have a good track record of helping people with debt problems and I suggest you contact them as quickly as possible. In the meantime is there a family member who might be able to loan you some money to get the credit card company off your back?
