Been bugging me for ages, this

Back in the early nineties there was an American female singer i've been dying to track down some songs by ever since but have been unsuccessful. This is largely because of the name she recorded under - . Yes, the copyright symbol. This is impossible to google for. Adding context doesn't help either.
I remember the music as being really skeletal dub. The singer was a former model, a six foot plus blonde from new york, if i remember correctly. Her songs were played on John Peel's show several times. Any information which could help me track down this artist would be an incredible help. Thanks!
