I would have thought that if you dis-assembled it and dried-out the parts individually (circuit board, lcd screen and case) you could get it back to normal)

Tell Mr trumchbul to remove his phone from his trouser pockets, next time he puts them out for the wash (:-))

thanks for the reply but it was little miss trunchbul that did it hahaha
I dropped my phone into a glass of wine a couple of weeks ago and the same happened. I tried drying it out but although the screen lit up, there was no display.

I found a phone shop in the yellow pages that claim to repair mobiles that have been damaged by liquied. I took it in last week and if they can fix it, it will cost 35, if not, they don't charge. I haven't had it back yet so don't know if they were successful. May be worth looking through the yello pages to see if there is such a repair shop near you.
remove the battery ...
the voltage will start the corosion process

if you have an airing cupboard put it in there
if not .... just somewhere warm (not hot - not the microwave)
.... don't "see if" for two or three days..... then see if
I'm pretty certain your mobile phone is dead. If they get wet you should remove the battery as soon as possible. I did drop mine in a glass of wine once, whipped the battery out, left it to dry for a few days, and the thing was okay. but if you try to switch it on when wet, the whole thing shorts and you end up with a useless lump of electronics.

I also dropped my IPOD into a sink of water. That didn't survive :-(
