I personally adore the old routemasters, there's nothing better than the fun riding on the back step, hopping on and off as you please, however not the safest or most comfortable form of London transport [espcially if you're my height]. They were recently replaced by bendy buses on one of my local routes which are almost as convnient and a lot safer. It would be a shame to see them go, but I think it's kind of inevitable.
Ken Livingstone should hang his head in shame. He claims to love London, however he has decided to scrap the Routemasters - a typical and much-loved sight in London - and replace them with the characterless and unpleasent Bendy-buses.
I was present on one of the vintage buses operating the 73 on the last day of Routemaster service recently, and there happened to be a TfL official on the bus, and some of the unofficial comments he made regarding Red Ken and his coterie of American bureaucrats he has brought in to run London's transport don't bear repeating.
Can't we impeach Ken and bring back our buses?
