i have been using my partners name for 20 years now but never legalised it - now i find i cannot get a photocard drivers license done as i cannot prove the link between my birth name and the one i have now - can anyone help

you will either have to get married/civil partnership OR get a photo liscence in your own name OR change your name by deed poll
Have you got anything official in your known name with your national insurance number on it?

Have you got your original birth certificate, school certificates? Even better an old pay slip or P60 in your birth name?

Take everything you can find that can help prove your identity to a solicitor and make a statutory declaration stating that you were born Mary Poppins and since 1987 have solely used the name Julie Andrews.

Expect to pay under �50.
