..Wellington boots, Gran.
This saying dates back to WW11 when the American army suffered a lot of injures caused by their our troops, at the time the USA army had a large influx of cowboys in their ranks. These cowboys was unused to modern weapons esp. the new GA12Z bazooka. This particular weapon had a deadly backwash which was capable of inflicting great damage on its handlers and loaders, so they had to develop a warning shout when about to fire the weapon, hence the saying tuck your hooters into your bazookas
Yes - I am familiar with the phrase, although I have narrowed it down to a few possibilities. It's one of the following words:

bang beep blast boo burst cling frog lobe moo ping plop pop spam splat spleen spoon tree aardvark chocolate clingfilm crackle crinkle custard dingbat donkey gargoyle gecko gurgle iceberg lizard mincemeat mongoose oblong parsnip peasant penguin pimple poodle porridge pumpkin purple putrid quahog rancid sausage sideways soggy strangle teapot toadstool tortoise treacle turnip turquoise tyrant window wombat yellow zebra zigzag predict pretend aeroplane anarchist balderdash bubblegum carbuncle codswallop crocodile dinosaur elephant gibberish googolplex grasshopper harpsichord hypersphere jellyfish leprechaun marmalade million millipede monarchy nincompoop octopus parasite pentangle poisonous pseudonym syzygy tablecloth triangle venomous cathedral outrageous transparent upside-down apoplexy armadillo botulism charismatic ectoplasm feudalism helicopter hierarchy hippocampus hyphenated melancholy oligarchy oxymoron salamander capitalist pterodactyl trepidatious desperado cantankerous catastrophe exterminate invisible reactionary hippopotamus hypothetical proletariat revolutionary sanctimonious imperialist idiosyncratic indefatigable

...or possibly something else.

I've never heard of this phrase. Is it a radio quiz or something. I wonder. Hmmmmm!
