What are the best places to visit to get the most impressive views of the war graves in northern france? Any other fascinating 1st or 2nd WW sites or museums there you'd recommend? And are there any well-located smart hotels with good access to these places?

You could also consider adding Ypres in Belgium to your visit. As the town is in the Flemish-speaking part of Belgium, it is signposted as Ieper.

You could go with a specialist company

Even if you dont got with them maybe you can look at their web sites and see where THEY go so it gives you some ideas.
Going with Leger next week and will try and remember to let you know about it here.
I'm back and posting again in case you check back. Went with Leger on All Quiet on Western Front tour. See their website mentioned earlier. Highly recommended and good value for money. Very good quide.
