Xbox 360 component cord connection query...
1 Answers
My friend just bought a HDTV (he had a standard Crt before now) and he is looking to upgrade his Xbox360 connection to component to make use of the higher resolutions.
He also has an amp with surround sound hooked up and I had a question on the setup.
The component cord (which I just purchased on his behalf) consists of one end which has the scart looking connection that plugs into the Xbox and the other end has the 5 different coloured connections.
Obviously the 3 video cords go into the back of the tv where component cconnections go, but do the red and white audio cords also go into the tv or into the amp directly (to achieve surround sound - obviously)
The amp makes more sense to me but I suppose that the sound could be routed through the TV and into the amp with whatever cords we end up connecting his tv directly to his amp with for standard surround sound television watching.
Also (and please forgive the extreme noobiness here) I assume that even though the audio connections on the component cord are the same colour and look similar to standard composite cords - that they are, in fact, a higher quality connection??
Also whether this is the case or not is there a special "component" red and white audio spot on the amp (assuming they are supposed to be plugged into the amp diectly) or can you simply put them into the standard composite holes.
My God I just read all of that back and even I can't believe how little I know.
Its just that I don't want to get over there and start helping him connect the xbox/tv/set top box/amp/hard drive and be stopped by something as simple as this!
Thanks in advance for your help.
