Provided you remain if full control of your vehicle at all times it is not illegal. Unless you live in Scotland where it is, although nobody has been able to find a proper citation for that.

There was something last week on Traffic Cops where a bloke had no shoes on but I can't quite remember what they said - but Jamie Theakstons commentary mentioned it at the end.

Alan Partridge drove barefoot to Dundee once when he was having a breakdown and gorged himself on chocolate - there is no mention of an arrest - just that he was at a low ebb !! Seeing as though the second series was a documentary - i thought they would have mentioned whether there was an arrest.

I've done it once (but not to Dundee) and found myself breaking hard all the time - you tend to lose a bit of sensitivity (or gain too much) and it affects your judgement - unless of course you do it regularly - and yes I'm still talking about driving barefoot.

I'm going to lie down now.

haha 007 u got all flustered then. Well it looks like i'll have to admit defeat (not something i like doing!!). I have driven in my slippers before and that was weird enough. I can drive in 2 inch heals, but i think i'd struggle barefoot!!! Thanks
