search engines that search only in a certain country

ok example google has a button to search uk only or worldwide, but is there a site that lets you search just in france, spain etc but in english text? Thanks in advance.

im sorry but if you're going to be searching in france for example it's pretty obvious that all text will be in french!

http://c.asselin.free.fr/french/googleworldwid e.htm is a link to all the googls sites in the respective countries i.e. google Belgium; google Sri Lanka etc.

This also tells you which will give reults in English as well as the relevant language for that country - you can check the box to search just that countrys results as wih UK google.

Other option is that you will be likely to find the option to view th pages in English from the results - as the sites want the highest viewing figs - especially tourism, export, etc.

You can also use some of the page translation services from the web - google offers this as a further option.

I don't plug google as the best provider or SE available, but it is represented in a lot of countries - over 100 dedicated so far, so that should do you. Otherwise, learn Russian etc and use the locals SE....

Should add, you click the link on the left of the above site and it takes you straight to the countries google - like Azerbaijan, Libya, Bolivia or whatever....oh, and there is the Welsh google and Gaelic too...!

In google, you can do this: suppose you wanted to search for "Fawlty Towers" in Spain. You could type in...

"Fawlty Towers" site:.es

And that would restrict the search to sites that fall under .es - or you can change it to .fr, .de, .nl or whatever country you want to search. (Of course, this will exclude websites with .com, .org, .net etc addresses, even if they're located in that particular country). You can do this in other search engines too, but the syntax may vary.
