Not sure how accurate this is (and someone more in the know might well correct me on this) but I was recently told that 'hayfever' only exists in the UK and Northern France.
I myself am a hayfever sufferer and have often joked about moving to Europe to avoid the horrid hayfever season in the UK!
However, if you are a general 'allergy' sufferer anyway, like myself, anything from pollution to feather pillows can set you off, then of course it doesn't matter where you are in the world, you're going to suffer somehow :o(
But usually when I go abroad I don't get 'hayfever', so you may be okay in Italy.
