PAL DVD format
6 Answers
I have recently rec'd two DVDs, one from NZ and one from UK, and after they arrived it turned out they are in PAL format and when my player tries to read them I get an error. I suspect PAL is not compatible with the format of the DVD players in America? Any ideas aboutt how to render these things useable? Or am I just out of luck? thanks!

Mosts DVD players have some form of hack accessible through the remote which will render them region free. Panasonics are notably somewhat trickier for some reason (I have one...grrr...). If all else fails you could download a trial copy of DVD-idle onto your PC, which will allow you to watch your DVDs on your PC, but the registered version of this program costs $49. You can probably pick up a new region-free DVD player for that :o)
