Can anyone explain to me how this works in very very simple terms. I have a mini disc player and want to know how to set it to the best bass sound

The best sound they reckon is to move the sliders so they look like a smiley face !

depend on what you are listening to ...

where it was recorded how good or bad the recording was ...... speaker or headset ... etc etc
and the worst variable of all .... what you like!

the best setting is the one you like best ... and it will vairy track to track

just feel around - you'll get the idea - get it right ... and it will be you that get's the smiley face
