msn problems

Im not very very experienced on the computer so can't understand certain jargon. The problem is that the icon the I need to go on to allow me to get on msn is marked with a cross so therefore can't get into my msn.

do you mean the icon on the taskbar has the red cross ? this means that msn is open but no-one is signed in. just click on it and it will bring the page up and you can then sign in as normal.
