Why would you need 3K to get into Oz?? If you are a tourist I'm sure you don't - if you are on a WHV then the rules are the same wherever you arrive from.
Try http://www.statravel.co.uk who have branches nationwide. You can just walk in and speak to an advisor to get some advice, they've all been travelling before so can tell you the best ways of doing things.
We used Trailfinders to get out RTW tickets.

Different airline alliances have different tickets ie we used Star Alliance, as they allowed 5 flights within a continent. OneWorld, worked theirs on a mileage basis.

There are a few other alliances with RTW tickets.

Speak to Trailfinders and tell them what you want to do, and they should be able to find a ticket for you. They were the cheapest for a colleague, when he wanted to go to New Zealand, via Thailand on the way, and LA on the way back.
