How low down are the pains? It could be that the baby's head has just engaged in which case pains around the pelvic area are normal. The head engaging at 36 weeks is normal too (especially if it's your first), my baby's head engaged at 36 weeks, or as my midwife stated "was using my pelvic bone as a pillow!" but it was still almost 2 weeks past her due date before she decided to put in an appearance! Hope your last few weeks go well.
I felt like I had been kicked between the legs from about 35 weeks, an appointment with my midwife showed Emmy was 3/5 engaged and her head was bouncing about and causing bruising pains, not pleasant to put up with for another 2 weeks!
