You typically need to turn of the Windows Zero Configuration function, and then create a new profile and tell the adapter to use it.
Note, I do not have one of these adapters, so the following is a guide:
1) Turn of the Windows Zero Configuration:
right-click the icon in the system tray (typically a big R for your adapter), then select �Use RaConfig as Configuration utility�.
2) Create a new profile:
You need to create a new profile to attach to your preferred network, entering any security details. There should then be an option to inform it to use this as the default.
This is assuming your adapter supports profiles, I imagine it will. The advantage here is that you can create several profiles with different levels of security if you need to test things, and also profiles for when you visit friends whose networks you wish to connect to, although that is not so beneficial on a desktop !
