One final attempt to see if anybody can identify the woman on the attached link. Her surname is also that of an English place name (although not necessarily a well know place name).

This is just a guess - the photo resembles a young ~Alice, Duchess of Gloucester (now deceased) but I cannot find any photos on the web of her in her younger days.

Icntoan, I saw Angers suggested for 97 and have gone with that. Not entirely happy with it but can't find anything else. Good Luck

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for the delay in replying. Good luck to you too. This is the first quiz I have not been able to complete and it is very frustrating. It is hard to know how to research the pictures when you have nothing to go on isn't it. Hopefully an ABer will win.

Hi again Icntoan. I'm with you on this one, I find it very difficult to research pictures too, but the main problem with this quiz is that I only received it on the 21st so have only had a week to get the answers (with help from several ABers). If I'd realised the closing date was so close I probably wouldn't have got one, but once I had, I felt that I had to do as much as I could and return it. I too hate not being able to complete them.
It'll be interesting to see who the mysterious lady at 89 is. I've looked at the picture so much that I feel I know her !

I expect you've now seen the answer that Greenfingers has found- Nacy Mitford. I am kicking myself a bit as I always felt she was an author- just couldn't locate her. Also not heard of Mitford so probably wouldn't have taken a lot of notice if I did. For number 87 I for some reason have this man down as an engineer or scientist! Probably completely wrong but there you go. Looking forward to getting the answers to this one to put me out of my misery once and for all.

No, I hadn't seen Greenfingers' answer, I've just got in from work and logged on. Just my luck, I posted mine off yesterday!
