I am currently at sixth form college, studying further maths, physics and chemistry. Last year I only achieved a grade 'E' in the GCSE I.C.T. short course although i would consider myself much more competent with computers than my grade suggests. I was wondering if it would be worth while taking the E.C.D.L. (which i have read about and it looks really easy) just to make my CV look better and if the test can be taken without going on the 2 year training course?

The ECDL is fairly straightforward, mostly using Office & applications. You don't have to do any course to take it, but it might be worth buying a book or something to see what it's up to.
You definately don't need a 2 year course to pass the ECDL. 2 days maybe!
I think u can do it in 3 to 6 months...buy one of those self paced learning books (usually huge) with the discs attached and go at it at ur own speed....I think Accuracy and Speed and Knowlege are really what to aim for when u are going thru the exercises in it. Good Luck and yes it is worth having on ur CV ...an u might just find an area that u could EXCEL in (pun intended).
