I see that Virgin are offering super fast broadband no matter how far you are away from the exchange it doesn't slow down. Are they using fibre optics?

Yes.

Depending on where you live, there are two ways to get Virgin Broadband:

* By fibre optic cable (on cable)
* Or down your phoneline (non-cable)

I never have speed drop with my Virgin (formerly Telewest) broadband.
distance from telephone exchange will have a negligable effect on the speed of your connection.
