Foxes at this time of year are hunting more or less round the clock. The cubs are growing fast and will be needing more and more food.

And of course, the fox will be protecting his territory, even during the day.

glad im no a fox
we get foxes at all times day and night, I live in town but not far from the forest, it was probably a young fox , I had a young'n in my garden the other day it walked right up to my back door which was open I just stood face to face with it.
I live in a town and was walking home from work one afternoon, only a couple of months ago, and a fox came running out of an alley, straight across the road and down the other alley. 2 out of the 3 of us walking home see it and the 3rd person took some convincing it was actually a fox!!

i was concerned for its saftey, didnt want to witness it getting run over, i had to look away when it crossed the road. (it made it) thankfully
I fed one last night , i put some sausages out for them(not sure how many there are , at least two) i just stood looking out of my kitchen window as he ran around the street burying these bits of sausage.
He/she even came onto my lawn about 10 foot from my window and burried a small piece.
took it about 20 mins to eat and bury it all, great to watch.
going to do the same tonight..
And with the advent of many councils now having wheelie bins, the humble fox can not scavenge household waste as easily as yesteryear.

Aren't they just a magnificant animal? How any hoo-ray Henry wants to watch, and enjoy watching them being ripped to shreds by a pack of dogs is beyond me. Culture or not!!!

But I live in the sticks, and see them often in daylight.

its so nice to see nature so close. go on freddie!!
Webbo3, if you want to attract them they love RAW eggs and Raw chicken wings, never cooked bones they'll splinter inside them, they also love cheese and anything sweet like honey or jam sandwiches. I feed some foxes near our local wood, there are 8 cubs at the moment I just love watching them!
P.S Leave the eggs whole, they pick them up without breaking them and carry them off, it's fascinating to watch.
Fed him/her again last night, cut about 6 sausages up into bite size chunks and the fox spent ages running around burying and eating it all, must have taken about 1/2-3/4 of an hour.
Great fun to watch, every now and then it would just sit on the pavement/road (we live in a very quiet cul-de-sac) and just have a scratch, and then go back to his food.
tnx Gelda ill give that a try tonight, eggs and sandwiches, lucky fox.
Let us know how you get on, they do love sausages don't they.
