Does this make me racist?
We were talking about the terrorism stuff in work and a colleague asked me what I thought could be done to prevent these attacks. I said "stop letting these people in the country", she said I was racist. Right, or wrong?

But I'm glad they did. That's officialdom for you though. It's not a just thing that some applicants should be put to a lot more trouble and difficulty than others but you stayed with it to your credit.
According to the police there are only? 2000 Islamic terrorists in Britain and I believe they have records on most of them and who are under continual surveillance. The ones that escape through the net are likely to cause most damage but they are now fewer in number. As most are born here they cannot be chucked out. But instead of waiting for the next bomb to explode why don't they approach these suspects, let them know they are under suspician and if they put a foot wrong will be dealt with harshly. Forget that balarny stating you are innocent until proven guilty, that was for the past!
salas Corby is in the middle of a major regeneration programme so maybe you're a wee bit behind the times.
Ma parents and most of ma relatives are Aberdonian/Glaswegian so yes I seen the news wi great interest. As I have said before, I have Muslim pals and work colleagues. Ma opinion of them and Muslims in general has changed not a jot.

"stop letting these people in"?! "they" as you put it are mostly British anyway, what are you going to do throw out everyone who's parents/ grandparents are.......asian...middle eastern....italian....french etc Generally I do think we need to tighten the boreders and allow less immigrants in, but the people who enter the country "by the book", who are genuine asylum seekers, who have come from terrible situations, probably arent any problem, its ilegal immigrants who sneek in that are probably the trouble, and I imagine thats very hard to stop. Any terrorists comming into the country are hardly going to sign a form and say "oh yes i'm a terrorsist". I dont know if your racist, but I dont think you thought about what you said very carefully (sorry dont mean to sound patronizing).

Depends what you mean by 'these people'. If you meant terrorist, then anyone could agree with you. The only problem is, they tend not to have terrorist listed as their occupation on their passport, so I don't know how you would decide who not to let in.
If by 'these people', you meant law abiding, hardworking people who just happen to share the same religion as a small group of misguided psychopathic zealots, then you probably are racist (or maybe just unreasonable).
