Would you care` to explain to the thousands of Scots soldiers ,sailors and airmen who have died in the service of Great Britain since the Act of Union in 1703 that they were a contradiction in terms?
We English are British but we will call ourselves English before but as well as British because like you our nationality is what we are proudest of. We are not born in Britain but in our home country. I have only experienced Scots describing themselves as Scots and not Brits and if I indicated this was anything but welcome I apologise. I believe Scots are probably more patriotic than us English but thats a hornets nest for another day. A brave person is a brave person in any language and country John. I have recently returned from the 1st world war battlefields and cemeteries of France and Belgium and I respected every one of the British graves and names there.
Well I am not debating - I've answered the call for my explanation. Legend ; yep sometimes I agree with you and a debate at this time may well be unnecessary and stupid - do you mean time as in time of night (rare for you) or as in the current national situation? Either way I'm going. My dishwasher has packed up and I have to wash up after a late Sunday roast. Goodnight Brits everywhere!!! PS Legend I though you handled that spiteful stuff very well early last week.
I think we all know who the enemy is.
Whether you're English,Scottish,Welsh or Irish its a time to stand together as the one nation we are.
The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
As someone who lived through WW2 I can confidently say that there is an innate reaction likely from BRITISH people to anything they see is going to be harmful to others. It helps them if there is another person to join in but this trait is to be acknowledged and appreciated. The British spirit usually shines through.
