The only thing I can suggest is to fill a bucket with water from the fish tank and keep the fish in there. Try to move the tank to your new home in advance of the move so that when you transport the fish to their new home, the tank is all set up for them. Try to get the fish moved in the bucket as quickly as poss.
Good luck.

The 'can't move a tank with water in it' was due to the water sloshing about and putting pressure on the glass and putty. Now that decent tanks are made with silicone and plate glass they can easily be moved with 1/4 of the water left in. Put a few layers of brown paper on top of the water, that will help prevent any splashing. Take enough water in buckets/containers with you to fill it with another 1/4. Apart from the hot water to warm up the carried water, do NOT add fresh water until the next day. The fish will be stressed from the move and might not be able handle the water shock that well.
