trying for a baby!!!
8 Answers
hi all!! i really hope someone can help me! i've been on the contraceptive pill for about 10 years (i'm 26) came off it in september '06 as we are trying for a baby. since then i've only had three periods and i'm really concerned theres something not right inside. lets face it im not going to get pregnant when i'm not ovulating so what can i do??? i've been to the doctors who said it was normal and it take anything up to a year for someone to conceive after coming off the pill (which is fine but i'm not ovulating!!) but i'm not sure.
any one got any advice-id really appreciate any comments xxx

firstly, don't worry...
but you could go to the doc to arrange for a scan - you could have something like polycystic ovaries, but you would need a hormone test (blood sample) and a scan to confirm this.
Your doc will ask loads of questions such as....(were the periods you had particularly heavy - or just regular?... do you get the PMS style symptoms every month with no bleeding - or just nothing?...do you have 'problem' skin?...do you have any weigh issues?) as these are all common symptoms of PCOS.
The main drugs used to encourage ovulation are usually Clomiphene or sometimes Metformin - these will stimulate the ovaries and 'hopefully' gove you more regular periods!
Hope this information helps, but as I said at the beginning - DON'T WORRY, it'll can only make it worse!

Hi Lex
DON'T WORRY!!
Honestly it's the worst thing you can do, chill and go with the flow.
I actually used the Persona the 'wrong way round' to find out when I was most likely to get pregnant and it did work eventually. At 26 you have plenty of time ( I was 35 and didn't fall pregnant until I was 39)
I will admit I had started IVF treatment but actually found out at the second appointment (before treatment) that I was pregnant when they did a scan to see if I had any problems!! I honestly believe it was because I'd stopped worrying about it.
