Does anyone else have any problems with Sky Broadband disconnecting by itself? Its getting rather tedious now. Ive run a scan and dont have any threats yet for some reason, Sky disconnects itself. It simply says that my "preferred network cant be found" or something similar to that. Its driving me up the wall cos when i try to connect to the net, i just get a screen that says "this page cannot be displayed". It seems to disconnect itself every 10 mins or so. Please help!
This seems to happen to me with my connection to sky at times as well. I have found if you switch everything of at the plug and leave switched of for a few mins then it cures it immedietly
I did have this problem i found it was my cordless phones which was causing it.
You need to plug in the filters they gave you into every box which has a cordless phone connected.
This did cure my major problem but i do sometimes find i cant connect i turn the wireless router off and back on.
There is a web site that might help if you keep having problems its The unofficial support forum for everything sky.
I have a BT cordless handset in the bedroom upstairs where we have sky in our bedroom (my PC is upstairs too so i run a cable from that BT phone point to the PC), but also a cordless phone downstairs which is where sky + is.
What do i need to do to the downstairs phone point Mr K?
Thanks for that website, will look at it later (if my internet connection lets me!!!!!)
You should have got at least 3 filters with your sky broadband. Plug these filters in the main sockets especially the cordless ones you may have to put one in every phone socket.
I had the same problem it was my cordless phones which kept cutting me off.
The filters look like this
Ok, well i only have 2 phone points so ill stick the two filters into those sockets. The one upstairs will have both ports on the filter full (one cable for the internet one cable for the phone) and i presume the filter downstairs will have both ports full too?
still keeps disconnecting mate. Driving me insane. I plugged in a micro filter downstairs but when i left the PC for about an hour and went upstairs again, the litle message in the bottom right hand corner was there saying "unable to connect to preferred wireless network".
Ok when i had this problem i rang sky
They told me to plug in the filters.
Also they did a line check with BT to check there is no fault with the line There is no charge for this and they work together if there is a fault.
My problem was fixed at this point.
Id ring the Techs at sky ask for the Broadband Techs...
Make sure you get the Techs as when i rang they passed me on to a load of idiots who were not the techs just helpers.
They were no help and at first told me it was my laptop.
When i got to the right people the Techs they sorted my problem straight away.
Hope you get it sorted soon mate as mine did my head in for the first couple of weeks. And i wished id stayed with virgin media
Yeah ive spoken to the "idiots" you mention and yes they said it was the filters!!! Im gonna ring before 5 again cos after that your call goes to India and they are about as much use as a sunglasses on a bloke with one ear!
Ill let you know how i get on mate, appreciate your help
