I am going to Prague for a few days next month and everybody keeps telling me how cheap the beer is. What should I expect to pay for a beer? What should I expect to pay for a nice meal? Are Euros accepted? Should I expect to be ripped off?

When we went cheapest we found was 30p/pint at a swimming pool, don't remember prices in restaurants but that McDonalds and KFC were cheap (not that I'd touch it now)

A largish glass of beer costs from 25 to 50 Koruny (under 50p to about one pound). If you stick to some of the fixed price offers (usually involving goulash or pork), you can have a full meal for 150 to 200K (three or four pounds). Euro are only accepted in the sort of tourist places you should avoid if you want to pay the above prices!

Sorry, I didn't answer your final question about being ripped off. Generally no more than any other capital city, but restaurant bills tend to be padded out in various ways - in particular, don't assume that any bread, relishes etc that are placed on the table, without your asking for them, are free; the same goes for any drinks (usually slivovice) which the waiter brings round on trays, which you might naively think "are on the house".
