how to word a sensitive note...?

i have drawn a portrait of a young lad who died 2 years ago, and i am sending it to his dad.
I want to put a note in with it, but I am not sure how to sign off - I wrote "I hope you enjoy it" - then realised that might sound a bit... well... not quite right... "enjoy"?
- or does it?

perhaps i am thinking about it too much, but can anyone think of a better way of writing this?

(he has seen the drawing and loves it and wants it, so i hope you like it seems wrong too. I see him every few weeks in the pub)

I am confused, I thought a portrait was of living poeple, was it a likeness, if so why paint it 2 years after ?

doc, a portrait is a picture of a person - thats all - can be alive or dead - in fact 100-odd years ago they used to dress up their dead and take photos, and many paintings of kings and queens etc were done when the person was dead and was propped up.

i did the pic at the time of his death, there was a benefit gig and i was asked to do it.
copies were sold to raise money for his child.
this is the original one though and i never gave it to the family at the time as it seemed a bit strange and never a good time.
they saw the picture and loved it and i promised to send it to them... i just didn't get round to it until now - i saw the dad the other day and he reminded me, so i thought i'd better send it.
he knows it is coming this week.
i don't wan't anything too "heartfelt" and gushing if you take my meaning, but not too flippant either

I lost my son three days before his 21st birthday, so I feel this might be something I would like. Hope this helps. :o)

my best mate was killed in a bike crash the day after i "told" him he was gonna be my best man...................... on my wedding day the following year his girlfriend gave me a picture of him with a post it note on it saying "keep your teeth in" which was a joke we shared about his GF sticking her teeth out when she laughed!!

anyway....6 years later and the photo is the only thing i remember from my wedding gifts!!

just a simple thing like a picture or photo can right its own story!!
